Mental Health Ireland (MHI) is a national voluntary organisation with
a dynamic team and a network of Mental Health Associations (MHAs)
active throughout the country. MHI aims to promote positive mental
health, wellbeing & recovery using a process called coproduction to
ensure that the voices of the end user are heard at all stages of
programme development.
POSITION SUMMARY
Ireland?s National Mental Health Policy, _Sharing the Vision_ places
a special emphasis on the promotion of mental health. MHI aims to be
the lead national agency in promoting positive mental health,
wellbeing & recovery. This is a key theme in our current national
strategy ?_Empowerment from Ideas to Action **Apply on the

The Mental Health Promotion Officer will report to the Mental Health
Promotion Manager and work closely with both the National Office Team,
Development Officer team and MHAs to coproduce projects, campaigns,
research and innovation. The role demands flexible working hours which
will necessitate some attendance at out of hours meetings/events
related to the duties of a Health Promotion Officer. The applicant
must have the necessary experience and capacity for lone working and
to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
The postholder will play an active role in supporting MHI meet the
goals & objectives in the strategic plan. They will ensure the
promotion of positive mental health; wellbeing & recovery extends
across the whole community. This includes those difficult to reach and
at-risk cohorts with a special focus on improving the global health
status of people with significant mental health challenges.
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will have a passion for mental health
promotion, experience in planning and innovation with specific skills
in areas including mental health promotion, project initiation,
development, implementation, evaluation training, change management
and population health.
They will also have experience in research and evaluation and be
capable of planning and coproducing mental health promotion programmes
They will be able to translate best practice and new emerging evidence
into robust initiatives that can be mobilised and utilised by
community members in Ireland.
